Our History

Journey Church’s history is rooted in the lives of 8 adults who were called by God to plant a church in the Northwest. In 2005, Pastor Chris Mayfield was called to leave his pastorate at Houston Northwest Church and move to the north Seattle area with his family and 6 others. All of them with a single passion to see Christ proclaimed and worshipped in the Northwest.

Journey Church was a cooperative partnership between Acts 29 Church Planting Network and the North American Mission Board, the church planting arm of the Southern Baptist Convention

After months of fruitful planning Journey Church joyfully launched Easter Sunday of 2006. Originally gathering in local schools, a core group of about 35 people began to gather weekly for worship. By God's grace the church continued to grow both spiritually and numerically.

In August 2010, Journey moved into their present location, a permanent facility in downtown Everett. The Journey Church has continued to thrive in Everett and truly become a church with a regional ministry.

In December 2010, Pastor Chris resigned to pursue planting another church in Arizona and in February, 2011 the elders of Journey Church called Journey’s Associate Pastor, Matthew Savage as the church’s new lead pastor.

Presently, the Journey continues the mission to call all people to full devotion to Jesus Christ.  Journey Church gathers at 10am every Sunday. Join us!
