Despite Paul's impressive record of obeying the Old Testament law, he considered all of his achievements as garbage in comparison to knowing Christ. Paul exchanged his false righteousness for the true righteousness that comes through faith in Christ.
The local church exists to display the glory of God to the nations. One of the ways we do this, is by communicating the good news of the gospel, taking the message of what Christ has done and bringing it to the lost and unreached peoples of the world.
Today is a very important day in the history and life of Journey Church. Today we affirm the appointment of new Journey elders. We desire to bring our biblical governance structure into harmony with the Bible. So this morning we examine the role, qualifications and necessity of biblical eldership.
One of the most painful things in life is a longing, a holy desire, left unfulfilled. It tests our faith like no other. It brings grief and confusion. How do we go on when the Lord sovereignly chooses to direct our lives down a path we do not desire? Can we trust the Lord in our sufferings? Can we have confidence in the Lord 'though he slay' us? (Job 13:15)
